Legendary football coach Bill Reed, father of El Dorado Coach Scott Reed, passed away Tuesday in Texarkana at age 79. Friday, Scott Reed honored his father the best way he could: His dad called the first play. "I'll be honest with you, that first play we called was his. We got in unbalanced and ran the stretch play," Scott Reed said as his emotions took over. "I was with him Tuesday night when he passed. We were working on a plan. I had my laptop. And, we knew it was coming." Richard Kesee ripped, ran, spun and bucked his way for 34 yards on that play, sparking El Dorado (1-0) to a 29-7 victory at Camden Fairview (0-1). Kesee finished with 110 yards rushing and two touchdowns while the Wildcats' defense held the Cardinals to 42 yards rushing. "I think our kids did a remarkable job this week because I've kind of been out of it," said Reed, who said his players knew of his father's play. "I did tell them before the game that it was for coach Reed Sr. I think they all were ... they kind of honored me and I appreciate that." El Dorado's offense scored on its first three possessions. Defensively, the Wildcats were dominant. Fairview quarterback Keith Johnson completed 11 of 25 passes for 147 yards, including a 50-yard completion to Jalen Moore to convert a third and 21. Moore also caught a 30-yard jump ball over a defender. "They didn't get anything inside. They can run on the perimeter, but I thought we got better and better defensively as the night went on," Reed said. El Dorado's Darius Holly completed 10 of 12 passes for 119 yards. Keshun Greene caught 2 passes for 45 yards, and Shun Levingston snagged 3 for 40. Sophomore quarterback Alex Hicks had eight carries for 54 yards. The Wildcats scored on the opening possession. After Kesee's 34-yard gain, he converted a fourth and 2 with a 7-yard run. Holly hit Greene for 12 to the 7. Two plays later, Kesee scored on a 3-yard touchdown run. Greysen Hubbard kicked the extra point for a 7-0 lead with 9:22 left in the first. El Dorado's defense forced a punt after three plays. The Wildcats marched 66 yards to the end zone. Greene hauled in a 33-yard pass from Holly before Jarius Curry scored on a 2-yard run with 4:49 left in the first. Hubbard added the extra point. The Wildcats got the ball back after a sack by Donovan Walter. Hicks came in to lead a drive, sparked by Kesee's 19-yard run. The drive took more than seven minutes off the clock. Levingston had a 10-yard reception before Hubbard booted a 20-yard field goal for a 17-0 lead with 4:45 left in the second.
